Hello. My name is Brian and this is my
portfolio from my English Sophmore year. Mrs. Buongario is my
teacher. At this time I am 15 years of age turning 16 on June 24.
This page consits of my essays, voabulary story, reflections, and
annotates reading list. The essays were written for Julius
Caesar, independent reading, Catcher in the Rye, and
other literature that was read this year. My vocabulary story
consists of twelve chapters that have ten vocab words each. The
reflections are simular to the essays, but just look back on
previous chapters or acts in novels and plays read during my
Sophomore year. My annotated reading list consisits of most of the
books I read this year in school and a few from my summer reading.

Throughout my sophomore
year, I evolved as a writer. In the beginning, I was like a young
adult. I was evolved in my writing and could hold my own in essays
and other literature. I already had an evolved type of writing. Now
though, compared to the standards of the sophomore year, I had to
grow up all over again. I was more like a ten-year-old. Thanks to my
teacher, I was able to achieve my old type of mature writing and
exceed into adulthood.
I was able to make
connections between writing and the real world. Just look at my CAPT
test. I was able to connect a journey to America to Mulan. I also am
able to make connections in past parts of a piece of literature to an
upcoming event, this is seen in my Julius Caesar reflections. I also
just write as a system of entertainment. My vocabulary story is not
even complete. I am going to be using where I left off to finish a
story on line. I am part of an online type based RPG called ConQuest
Legacy. Gardon is my character for that game and I am using my
chapter story as a way to talk about my person's history and to be
future.
I also have gained
knowledge in how to reflect on certain pieces. The only real places
that I had to reflect were for Julius Caesar and Crucible. I have
six pieces of literature. This is only though that in my life I do
not like to write reflections in my free time only stories. In
addition, in school our class was not given many opportunities to
write reflections.
With the other ways, I
write I have not evolved in many ways. I was just reminded of how to
write strategically. I always have been able to write quickly and
get a project completed. In addition, I am okay, but not totally
great at pulling information from text. If the text is a critical
review, it takes me awhile to figure out what the critic is talking
about. Also the CAPT test is a literary test that figures out if I
am able to connect personal experiences with the text and how to read
and then reflect, respond on how well the author did on exploiting
his/her views and beliefs.
I used to be a teenager who
became a ten yea old, who in the end became a mature person due to
his teacher's nurturing.
